Dear Friends,
Andrea Boyer was a member of our Wells Road Vet family until she was tragically murdered on January 23rd, 2007. I personally want to thank each and every one of you for your caring and support during that terrible time. The community outreach to our clinic and Andrea’s love for every one of you and your pets were the only things that gave us the strength to come back to work and soldier on. You will never know how much it meant to us.
Andrea was a friend to all people and all animals; truly the girl who “never met a strangerâ€. I am never short of stories that highlight her undying faithfulness, ingenuity, toughness, and dedication. She wasn’t just a coworker, to us she was family and she was a hugely vital resource to our business as our lead veterinary technician. The personal loss as well as the loss to the business was devastating, and that fact alone speaks to what a wonderful person she was. I don’t know if I will ever meet anybody as enthusiastic about work and life, as energetic and industrious, or as honest and self-aware as Andrea was. She was one of a kind and irreplaceable. Although the tragedy of her passing left me horrified and confused, I would go through it again for the privilege of having known her. She will be forever dearly missed by all of us here, and I hope we do her memory justice by carrying on with what she helped to create.Â
Clay County Sherriff's office arrested Michael Renard Jackson just weeks after her murder based on DNA evidence collected at the crime scene. He was found guilty of sexual assault and of first degree murder Feb 2010 and the jury recommended the death penalty. You may learn more about the case from local media or the Clay County Clerk of Courts website. Â
If you have any questions about Andrea or the criminal case, please feel free to ask me or email me. I really appreciate any concern you have, and I also welcome the chance to share fond memories of Andrea. Please keep her husband Shad and her family in your prayers as they continue to heal and deal with these events.
Sincerely,
Dr. Mike
